Where do I go to have a piece made?

Depending on the piece that is desired, we can either cast the mold in your home or at our studio near Hudson, WI.  Larger pieces require that we cast the mold out of our studio just because we cannot be moving our large equipment around. Babies and small children, however, are easier to capture their hands or feet while asleep and therefore, we cast their mold in your home. Older children, adults, and elderly can be cast at the preference of the customer.

What should I wear when having a casting done?

Depending on the piece of art that you want depends on what one needs to wear.  We always recommend wearing old clothes because if we should get some of the material on your clothes, it is very hard to get out of clothing.  For larger pieces that involve the torso, we supply a robe for your comfort.

Are the materials safe for my skin?

Yes, all of the materials that touch the skin are safe.  The material used is called alginate which is made out of sea weed so it is all natural. We have not experienced anyone having any problems with a skin reaction.

Can anybody have bodycasting done?

Sure, any age can have bodycasting done.  Of course, some ages are easier than others.  Infants are easy to cast a mold since they sleep so much and don’t move around a lot.  Toddlers can be tricking since they seem to have a mind of their own and they don’t understand the importance of holding still so we prefer to cast them while asleep as well. Usually around age 4 or so they will cooperate so we can cast them with no problems.  Adults are easy to mold a cast from as well as the elderly.
